What You Get

Sixty minutes spent on your questions, not on background

The expert hour is for the moment when you have the documents in front of you and you need someone who knows the standard and the scheme to tell you what they mean and what to do next. You send what you want to discuss in advance, the consultant reads it before the call, and the hour goes on answers.

The call is advice from a consultant. It is not an audit, it does not produce a certificate, and it does not change the outcome of any assessment your certification body carries out. What it does is help you understand where you stand and choose the right action, in plain words.

£150 ex VAT, per hour

  • A full hour on Microsoft Teams with a CQI and IRCA registered lead auditor and consultant.
  • Documents read in advance, so the conversation starts from your situation.
  • A walk through your SchemeReady report: what the bands and stop items mean and what to tackle first.
  • A certification body report explained: each finding, the evidence that would close it and how to write the corrective action.
  • Straight answers to specific questions on scope, competence records, internal audit site visits, management review or anything else.
  • Agreed next steps at the end of the call, in a form you can take back to your team.
Who It Is For

Three situations where an hour is the right amount of help

You have a SchemeReady report

You have completed the self-assessment and want a person to look at the result with you: which gaps matter most, what evidence would close them, and whether your two-week plan is realistic. Not started yet? SchemeReady sells the assessment and this hour together as Standard plus expert hour.

You have a certification body report

Your assessor has raised findings and you are not sure what they are asking for, how to respond, or how to show the corrective action worked. An hour is usually enough to plan the response.

You have a specific question

A scope wording, a competence record, a management review agenda, a change to the scheme document. You want a clear answer from someone who works with these documents every week.

Book Your Hour

Choose a time and pay online

The booking tool takes your details, your chosen time and your payment in one step.

Book by email

Until the online booking tool is live, email us to book. Tell us the times that suit you and what you want to cover, and we will confirm a slot and send you a payment link and the Teams invitation.

Email to book

Opens your email app with a booking request pre-filled. Nothing is sent until you press send.

Before The Call

What to send in advance

The more you send beforehand, the more of the hour goes on answers. Reply to your confirmation email with the documents at least one working day before the call. Send only what is relevant, and remove anything you would not want a third party to see. Your documents are used only to prepare for and hold the call.

If you are bringing a SchemeReady report, the PDF is enough: it already carries your profile, your bands, your stop items and your action plan.

  • For a SchemeReady review: the readiness report PDF, and the evidence list or action plan if you have started working through them.
  • For a certification body report: the report itself, the findings or nonconformity sheets, and any response you have already drafted.
  • For a specific question: the question written out, and the document or record it relates to (for example your scope statement, your training matrix or your last management review minutes).
  • For everyone: which standard or scheme you are working to, your certification body if you have one, and the date of your next visit if it is booked.
Price

One price, no add-ons

£150 ex VAT, per hour

The price covers the consultant's preparation time, the one-hour call and any short follow-up by email to clarify a point from the call. VAT is added where it applies and shown before you pay. You receive a receipt by email. If you need an invoice addressed to your company, ask when you book.

If your question turns out to need more than an hour, the consultant will say so on the call and you can decide whether to book another hour or ask for a proposal for a consultancy day. There is no obligation either way.

Cancellation

Cancellation terms

  • You can cancel or move your call free of charge up to 24 hours before the booked start time. Cancelled bookings are refunded in full; moved bookings keep the payment.
  • Cancellations made inside 24 hours, and calls that are not attended, are charged in full, because the preparation has been done and the time cannot be resold.
  • If you join late, the call still ends at the booked time.
  • If Denver House has to cancel, you choose between a new time and a full refund.
  • Technical problems on our side that stop the call taking place are treated as our cancellation.
Questions

Expert hour FAQ

Q1 Is the expert hour an audit?
No. It is an hour of advice from a consultant. Nothing about it is an audit, an assessment or a certificate, and it makes no difference to the decision your certification body reaches.
Q2 Do I need a SchemeReady report before I book?
No. A SchemeReady report is a useful starting point for a 12D conversation, but you can book to discuss a certification body report or a specific question without one. If you would like a report first, you can complete the self-assessment in a few hours.
Q3 Which standards and schemes can you cover?
ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, BS 99001 and the National Highways Sector Schemes, with particular depth on 12D. If your question is outside these, say so when you book and we will tell you whether an hour will help.
Q4 Can more than one person join the call?
Yes. The Teams link works for anyone in your business. Most firms bring the person who owns the management system and, where a certification body report is being discussed, the person who will write the response.
Q5 Is the call recorded?
Not by us. You are welcome to take notes or, with everyone's agreement at the start, record it for your own use.
Q6 What happens to the documents I send?
They are used only to prepare for and hold the call. Your company name and the date of the call go on the record of advisory clients described above; the documents themselves are not shared with any certification body or anyone else. Send only what you are happy for a consultant to see.
Q7 How do I pay, and do I get a receipt?
You pay by card when you book, through the online booking tool. A receipt is emailed to you. If you book by email while the tool is being set up, we send you a payment link and the receipt follows in the same way.
Q8 What if I run out of time?
The call ends at the booked time so the next person is not kept waiting. If there is more to cover you can book another hour, or ask for a proposal for a consultancy day. The consultant will tell you honestly which is the better use of your money.
Q9 What if I need to cancel?
Use the link in your confirmation email, or reply to it. Up to 24 hours before the call there is no charge. Inside 24 hours the fee is kept. The full terms are set out above.
